Colin Pero, MD, FACS, is double Board-Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He completed a Fellowship accredited by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and his training and practice focus on Facial Plastic Surgery with a special emphasis on Cosmetic and Reconstructive nasal surgery. He has a strong emphasis on excellent functional and natural-appearing results, with avoidance of the “tell-tale” signs of poorly-performed plastic surgery.
The letters FACS (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after Dr. Pero’s name means that his education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by the college.
As a native of the Dallas area (growing up in Allen, Texas), Dr. Pero is proud to be practicing in the North Dallas area. Following graduation from Allen High School, Dr. Pero attended Baylor University on a Presidential Scholarship, earning the Dean’s List amongst other honors.
Following college, Dr. Pero attended the University of Texas Health Sciences Center-Houston Medical School, where he excelled. He was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the only nationally recognized honor society for medical school students.
Following medical school, Dr. Pero performed his internship in General Surgery at the famed Charity Hospital in New Orleans. His residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose, and Throat) was also completed in New Orleans at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Throughout his residency, he regularly scored in the top 5 -10% of all Otolaryngology residents on the annual in-service exam. At the conclusion of his residency, Dr. Pero was selected for a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School under the tutelage of the world-renowned rhinoplasty expert, Dean M. Toriumi, M.D.
As an author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, textbook chapters, and presentations at national and international meetings, Dr. Pero has contributed significant scientific research to the fields of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Pero serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, where he trains the residents in the field of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Pero lives with his wife, Roxanne, a Women's Health Functional Medicine Physician in Dallas, along with their children Gideon, twins Hugo and Lucie and their newly adopted daughter Ella. They are enjoy traveling, live music, playing with their Wire-Haired Vizsla Catin, entertaining with friends, and are avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Stars, and Mavericks fans. In addition, Dr. Pero is an avid CrossFit athlete, having competed in many local competitions (with mixed results).
